Poker In The Sanctuary?

Okay, so I’m posing this question to the lot of you to see who can come up with the best answer. Today I walked into a church and the staff sat at a table in the center of the sanctuary, playing poker. No beer, cigars or money, just plastic chips and cards all around.

Is there something wrong with this picture? Is there a scriptural reason this would be wrong?

I have my thoughts and gut feeling on the matter, but I want to see if someone else can help me formulate them a bit clearer. Anyone… fire away…

Uh don’t think my last comment worked. I think it’s fine, my only hesistation being if it’s tempting people to get involved in gambling with money that gets out of hand. In itself – no, what is wrong with it??!

i wouldn’t have a problem with them playing poker in the evening at someone’s house. even drinking beer. but in the middle of the day? at the church? where anyone can walk in off the street to ask something or whatever? not responsible.
